About Me

Profile Welcome!  My name is Stephanie Alvarez, and I am currently a second year special education teacher in the city of San Francisco, CA.  I currently am in my second year of graduate school at the University of San Francisco, where I am obtaining my Mild/Moderate Teaching Credential as well as my Master's in Special Education (expected graduation is May 2015!).  I also recieved my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in 2011 from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.  I have taught preschool, Kindergarten, middle school, and I student-taught in fifth grade class and a first/second grade combination class.
This is my first year teaching in special education in the primary grades (Kindergarten through second grade, or also known as K-2).  This past year I worked in a middle school as a math special day class teacher for sixth through eighth grade for five months, then was the seventh grade resource teacher for the rest of the school year.  Though I learned many great things from teaching in middle school (and not to mention my great students!), I realized my true passion is working with and teaching in elementary school.  I couldn't be more excited for this year and my class!
